Covid Related Communication (by Date):
April 30, 2020
After a year of meeting in the gym, we are excited that THIS SUNDAY we will be meeting once again in the sanctuary! Please join us! It is communion Sunday, as well, so please be sure to pick up a communion packet at the doors as you enter the sanctuary. If you desire to worship in an all-mask environment, we have set up the gym as an alternative place to worship. Of course, you are welcome to wear a mask into the sanctuary, as well! Please check out this video from Pastor Jeff for more details!
CURRRENT COVID RESPONSE PLAN:
WORSHIP SERVICE:
Our Sunday morning worship service will continue to be held in the gym to foster social distancing. Masks are not required, but certainly encouraged. We will continue to livestream for those who are staying home, and we will continue to show the livestream in the sanctuary for those who desire an all mask environment.
OTHER MINISTRIES:
All other ministries (children, youth, & adult classes, studies, small groups & AWANA) will function based on input from the ministry team/point leaders and the Panhandle Public Health District's color-coded "Risk Dial" (If you are unfamiliar with this, you can view it at pphd.org).

Our Sunday morning worship service WILL CONTINUE each Sunday at 10:45 a.m. in the gym with social distancing measures applied. Masks are encouraged. The gym is set up to allow households to maintain a 6-foot separation from one another during this time. We ask for an extra measure of attention to social distancing in the weeks ahead. We will continue to stream the service into the sanctuary, as well, for those who desire to be in an "all mask" environment.
We ask that if you are sick to stay at home and join us via our live stream worship service each Sunday here on Facebook!

Check out the video above from Pastor Jeff with some updates from the elders regarding the church's response to our current health crisis. As the cases continue to rise in our area, there has been a significant increase of stress on our hospital system, as well as many who are missing work and life events due to illness or quarantining. There have been many churches in the area, as well, that have been recently impacted.
Here is a recap of the updates that Pastor Jeff discusses in the video:

Check out the message above from Pastor Jeff! At this point we are continuing worship services in the gym (for more information, view posts below), but are tentatively looking to return to the sanctuary in the fall. Until then, we are making the sanctuary available for those who have not yet joined us due to health vulnerabilities or because they are caretakers for others with health issues. (If that is you, we hope you join us in the sanctuary this Sunday.) We are providing an opportunity for these church family members to worship and fellowship, as they gather together to watch the service being streamed into this space. Please wear a mask if you plan to go into the lobby or sanctuary these next few weeks.
We will continue to worship together in the gym as we have over the last several weeks. Masks are not required but people are certainly welcome to wear them.

Greetings church!
We will begin meeting together for worship at the church facility this Sunday, May 17th at 10:45 a.m. Check out the video above for a sneak peek about what to expect when you arrive on Sunday. We are excited to open our doors to worship again! However, in order to follow the governor's mandatory health measures for churches, we are adjusting how we worship together as a church family. We’ll have plenty of hand sanitizer on hand for use. While not mandatory, you are welcome to wear a mask to the service. If you are vulnerable due to existing health conditions or are experiencing any cold/flu-like symptoms, we ask that you remain at home and worship with us online. We will continue to live stream the services.
Here are some more details:

If you are vulnerable due to existing health conditions or are experiencing any cold/flu-like symptoms, we ask that you remain at home and worship with us online. We will continue to live stream the services.
Here are some more details:
- Worship in the Gym – The leadership has determined it will be most feasible to follow the guidelines if we worship together in the gym. You will find tables set up. We ask that families of 5 or more sit at the round tables, and smaller families, couples, and singles sit at the rectangular tables.
- Six Feet Separation between Households – The governor’s mandatory guidelines state that households must maintain six feet of separation from other households. We know this will be difficult for us all. We also know this will limit our normal expressions of love for one another. Hugs, handshakes, high-fives, etc. are not recommended at this time.
- Entrances & Exits – Please use the south doors or southeast gym entrance and strive to maintain six feet separation from other households as you enter and exit the facility. The northeast doors normally used to enter the sanctuary will be locked.
- No Nursery & Children’s Church– Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer childcare or children’s ministry during this time. Your children must sit with you during the worship service. If your children become restless or crying you may take them to room #106 where the service will be live streamed on the television.
- Giving– We are blessed that so many of you are continuing to give. Offering envelopes will be available at each table. Please place your offerings in the box or baskets located at each entrance when you enter or exit the building.
In Christ,
Pastor Jeff

Click on the video above for the newest update from Pastor Jeff regarding Governor Rickett's most recent directed health measures regarding churches. Here are some key points:
- Pastor Jeff loves and and misses the church family!
- The elders met yesterday and have decided that we will continue with just our online services for at least May 3rd and May 10th. At the time of the meeting, the governor's specific requirements for churches had not yet been released.
- The elders and deacons will meet next week to review the specific guidelines and determine a strategy for putting these guidelines into place. We will also be determining the date to begin meeting publicly again.
- Please pray for our pastors, the elders, deacons and staff as they navigate the information and make decisions that will best serve our Monument family!
- Pastor Jeff plans on sharing more details with you, as decisions are made. Thank you for your patience, prayers and faithfulness through these days.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to view the message above from Pastor Jeff regarding the church’s plans over the next couple weeks in response to the recent mandates for public meetings.
Some key points are as follows:
—We will be having our worship services ONLINE for at least the next two Sundays (March 22nd & 29th) with the possibility of that being extended into April. More details will come in the next couple days, so stay tuned!
—Small groups and bible studies that are less than 10 people may continue to meet at the discretion of their leaders and comfortability of the group. Some groups have already chosen to suspend meeting for the next couple weeks, and that is okay.
—All children’s ministries are suspended. AWANA had already been canceled because of the school closures.
—We are forming a CARE team, to help respond the needs in our body and the community. If you are willing to be part of this team, please call or email Mary in the office (632-4099 or [email protected]) and she will add you to the team. Details are still being worked out, but we are starting with discovering who is willing to help and what the needs are.
—Pastor Jeff and the Elder team will continue to monitor the situation and directives from our state and local leaders.
—Most importantly, as Pastor Jeff shares in the video, our hope is in Jesus! Hold fast to the Lord during this time, and make the most of every opportunity to minister to one another and those around you.

A Message from Pastor Jeff:
I want to take a few minutes to address the latest developments regarding the COVID-19 virus. I know there are differing opinions and emotions about the potential threat and spread of this virus worldwide and I want to encourage us as God’s people to respond in a way that exhibits a robust trust in the Lord, wisdom & discernment, and selfless care for others.
Here’s what we know is true. On March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared COVID-19 to be a global pandemic. The virus has spread rapidly in China, Iran, Italy, and is beginning to spread in our country. We must not panic, but following the direction of WHO, as well our nation’s leaders, we should be responsible to take necessary precautions to curb the spread of the virus which is why we are seeing so many cancellations of sporting events, college classes, & school closings across the country. God is sovereign, our trust and hope is in Him, so we do not have to fear. We must also exhibit sacrificial love for our neighbor by taking precautions personally and as a church family. Here are the actions I encourage you to take personally and the precautions we’re going to take as church family until further notice.
Personal Actions
· If you or a family member is ill (runny nose, coughing, fever, headaches, chills, etc.), please do not attend public or church family gatherings (i.e. worship, bible studies, small groups, kids/youth ministry).
· Practice good hygiene (i.e. washing your hands & coughing into your elbow).
· Use “fist bumps” for greetings instead of handshakes and hugs.
· Please listen to one another’s concerns & opinions.
· Please refrain from politicizing & mockery on social media and conversations.
· Please love and minister to people who are struggling with fear, anxiety, or hopelessness.
Church Response
We will continue our weekly gatherings (Sunday worship, bible studies & small groups, and kids/youth ministries). The elders will be monitoring the situation closely and will make any decision to cancel our church gatherings based on the recommendation of our state and local health officials.
· Hand Sanitizer will be available in classrooms, the Welcome Center, on a table as you enter the sanctuary, and inside the sanctuary in front of sound booth.
· We will suspend our greeting time during the worship service until further notice – Please greet one another before and after the service with a “fist bump”
· We will suspend passing the offering bags until further notice – Instead, please place your offering in the box located on the back wall of the sanctuary or in the box located on the table as you exit the sanctuary. Another option is to give online by going to our website, www.monumentbiblechurch.com, and clicking “GIVE.”
· Dana and I will suspend greeting people at the door after the service until further notice, instead we will be available at the front of the sanctuary after the service.
· For those who are unable to attend the service, the sermon will be available online on Sundays by 6:00 p.m. You can listen by going to www.monumentbiblechurch.com and clicking “SERMONS.”
Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we join in with others to take simple precautionary measures. We’re going to have many opportunities to demonstrate sacrificial love for others and be ministers of the hope we have in Jesus in the days ahead. May all that we do be for His glory and for the good of His creation. Serve Him well!
